The man elected for the office of New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, is beginning his transition into power Tuesday, by meeting with the current Governor of the state, David Paterson. According to News Channel 9, the two had a meeting in New York City that day, in which they talked mostly about the state’s finances.

Paterson is currently trying to start work with the state legislature to fix the $315 million deficit the state faces. By working on the 2010 budget, Paterson says that he is trying to set the pace for Cuomo to come in and deal with the $9 billion budget hold coming in 2011.
This early on, Cuomo is analyzing his possible course of action to fix the budget. "Raise taxes, raise revenue, that's not the answer, also I think this is a moment in time where this is a recalibration and a lot of these programs need to be redesigned and revisited anyway," he said.
Whatever the Governor-elect plans, he won’t be able to implement until January 1, when he takes office. Still, by Wednesday he is expected to begin touring state facilities, and a transition committee is said to be forming in the near future.
