Rescuers in Chile are expected to break through the chamber where 33 miners are trapped by Saturday, according to CNN.
Chilean Mines Minister Laurence Golborne said today that the miners could be extracted from the collapsed San Jose mine anywhere between two to 10 days after the breakthrough.
The Scramm T-130 rig, known as the Plan B drill, cut through 53 meters in just 12 hours earlier this week. With that in mind, Golborne believes that it could cover the remaining 89 meters down to the miners in just 20 hours.
The miners have been in contact with the outside world through a small-bore hole, since being trapped in a chamber on Aug. 5. The small-bore hole is being used transport food, water, supplies and other necessities.
