Two African-America children were found dead on Wednesday inside two luggages that were floating in the canal that separates Delray Beach from Boca Raton, according to CNN.
A passerby alerted police when he saw a duffle bag floating midway across the canal. Police found a girl first and then a boy in a suitcase a few meters further. The girls is believed to be between 6 and 10 years old and the boy between 10 and 12, according to CNN.
Police believe that the two deaths are related. However Sgt. Nicole Guerriero, a Delray Beach police spokeswoman told reporters that investigations are underway but no evidence has been found yet, according to CNN.
"We're devastated and someone is missing these children. Someone knows these children, and we need to know who these kids are," she said.
Guerriero added that they are asking for the public's help.
"If anyone has not seen their grandchild, their niece, their nephew, please give us a call," Guerriero said.
According to CNN, the bodies do not show any signs of trauma and their intact when found.
An autopsy is on the works while police are trying to identify the victims.
