Coming off of a trip to the NFC Championship game, the Chicago Bears gave head coach Lovie Smith a 2-year contract extension that will continue to 2013, according to ESPN.
Lovie Smith has been the head coach of the Chicago Bears since the 2004 season and has compiled a record of 63-49. The amount of wins he has in his Chicago Bear coaching career is third in franchise history, only behind Mike Ditka and George Halas.
The amount of money the extension is worth wasn't released by the Chicago Bears. Smith's last contract was worth $22 million.
Since Lovie Smith has been the coach of the Chicago Bears, the team has won three NFC North divisional titles and has had three seasons with double-digit wins. Also, the team went to the Super Bowl in 2006.
