Carmelo says time at Syracuse was the best of his life

A new documentary about the life of basketball superstar and former Syracuse standout Carmelo Anthony explains his love for New York and how his past has shaped where he is today.

Carmelo Anthony will call home this coming and next NBA season, a new documentary due out next week helps to explain Anthony's love for New York and what he would like to do in the future. The DVD entitled, 'Carmelo's Way' includes everything from Anthony's adolescence to his adult life today. He talks about being born in Brooklyn, New York and having to move to Baltimore, Maryland as a child with his family, but always longing to return to his birthplace, according to The Post-Standard.

New York has always been where Carmelo Anthony's heart remained. "I always wanted to go to school in New York...I was a big Syracuse fan", Anthony says in the documentary. Anthony had the time of his life in his one year at Syracuse. After winning the national championship at Syracuse in 2003, he wanted to return to school for an additional year. Coach Boeheim's encouragement to enter the NBA draft was one of the biggest reasons he did not return. Speaking of his time at Syracuse Anthony says, "Those were the best seven or eight months of my life. We were The Beatles up there."

All has come full circle in 2010 over seven years later that Anthony has suited up in Syracuse Orange. When asked about Anthony being traded, Beoheim told the New York Daily News, "He wants a place he can win, and I hope he can do that. He's in the prime of his career. He'd be a great foundation to build a franchise on."

As the NBA season begins today Anthony is a Denver Nugget, but as a source told the New York Post, "Carmelo definitely, 100 percent wants to be a Knick."
