Carmelo Anthony trade rumors continue to swirl

Los Angeles Lakers enter discussion about obtaining All-Star forward.

A trade that would send former Syracuse star Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets to the Los Angeles Lakers for Andrew Bynum is being discussed by the two teams.

Anthony has been linked to several teams in recent months, with the New York Knicks being another possible destination.

The talks among the Nuggets, Knicks, and Lakers are classified as preliminary by league sources. However talks with the Knicks are heating up. According to the New York Daily News Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan has begun direct negotiations with Nuggets’ owner Stan Kroenke in order to obtain Anthony's services.

Before Anthony is traded to a team he must agree to sign a three-year, $65-milion extension to prevent him from leaving as a free agent this summer.

The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 24.
