Buffalo falls in game 3

Plus, the death toll in China surpasses 2,000 and 2 killed in hospital shooting.

Buffalo trails 2-1 in the best of seven series against Boston following a 2-1 away defeat. With the score tied at 1-1 with 7:03 in the 3rd period, Patrice Burgeon scored his first goal of the playoffs to give the Bruins the lead. Since losing top scorer Thomas Vanek in the first period of Game 2, the Sabres have only scored two goals. Drew Stafford played in his first game since his April 10th concussion.  Buffalo plays Game 4 at Boston on Wednesday.

Death toll rises in China

China will fly its flag at half staff Wednesday to mourn the deaths of 2,039 of its citizens, the State Council said, according to Chinese media. Last week a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck the province of Qinghai. The earthquake caused 12,135 injuries of which 1,434 were serious according to rescue officials. According to CNN the earthquake destroyed 10,000 houses and forced 100,000 people to flee the area. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao assured the Chinese people that rescuers will continue to look for survivors.

Two die in hospital shooting

Two are dead following a shooting in Knoxville, Tennessee said police. The suspected gunman has believed to have taken his own life, said Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen. Owen said one of the victims died at Parkwest Medical Center. None of the identities would be released but all three women were either current or former Parkwest employees, said police. Two survivors were taken to the University of Tennessee Hospital trauma center.
