Whether is be the protesting that is happening in Wisconsin, or problems over Planned Parenthood that the federal budget could affect, budget plans are being disputed and affecting people all over the country.
In Providence, Rhode Island, the mayor decided to hand "pink slips" to about 2,000 people, which is the amount of people that the district could possibly lay off, according to CNN.
The mayor of Providence, backed up by a 4-3 vote by the school district, decided to send out all the notices about possible lay-offs to allow for flexibility when the budget is actually being implemented. Not every one of the 2,000 people will lose their jobs, but it gives the school district some leeway to deal with the budget.
This recent decision is part of an ongoing conflict that people all over the country have been dealing with in regards to budget plans. People have been protesting in Wisconsin for over a week over a budget plan that would reduce the amount of negotiating teachers could have with unions.
The teachers in Providence are outraged that so many people were given the notice of possible lay-off. All of the teachers in the Providence school district will continue teaching until the end of the year, and hope to not lose their job.
