Boy thought to be floating away found alive

A 6-year-old boy believed to be lost after floating in a hot air balloon was found hiding in his attic last night.

Update: A 6-year-old Colorado boy was found hiding in his attic last night after he was believed to be floating away in a hot air balloon, cnn.com reports.

Falcon Henne was found Thursday night in his attic after hours of searching. Henne was thought to have boarded his parent’s large helium balloon in the afternoon and flown away. After the balloon fell to the ground, Henne could not be found anywhere, leading many to believe he fell out.

It turns out the 6-year-old hide upstairs after his father yelled at him. He then took a long nap and awoke to a frenzied search for his body.

My Take: It is not everyday that a situation that looked so gloomy could turnout so good. The whole world was hoping that he would turn up ok, but no one could have pictured this.

Syracuse City School District faces many cuts

The Syracuse City School District will have to fire roughly 150 employees after news of Gov. Paterson’s cuts, according to syracuse.com

Paterson cut roughly $3 billion from the state budget yesterday and that means Syracuse schools will have to make due with $ 4.9 million less funding. That is almost 2% of all the state aid given to the schools. Firing employees is the only way to balance the already tight budget.

Syracuse relies on roughly 75% of its funding from the state because of its low income status. Wealthier communities will lose even more funding like Fayetteville-Manlius, which will have to do without nearly 9% of its state funding.

Both schools are still working off budgets with the lost funding figured into them.

My Take: Paterson’s cuts will have a widespread effect on all forms of New York State. Syracuse schools having to work without nearly $5 million of their budget is a big deal. This means more job losses for the community of Syracuse to endure.

Lebron back to practice after H1N1 scare

Lebron James returned to practice last night after spending the prior two days in bed. The NBA superstar was treated as if he had H1N1 virus but will not know the test results for a few days, espn.com reports.

Lebron and 2 other Cleveland Cavaliers tested positive for Influenza A, and are being treated as if they had the H1N1 virus. H1N1 is a strand of Influenza A, which has spread to all parts of the world.

Lebron believes he may have gotten the virus when he got a flu shot recently. The flu kept the MVP in bed for two days not being able to practice. James is encouraged that he is over the virus.

My Take: This is big news for all sports fan on two accounts. Lebron James is arguably the most famous athlete on the planet and if he is sick then it is news to many. Not only did he have the flu, but he may have gotten sick with the H1N1 virus, which is everywhere these days.
