"Mary" worked at a call-center in Auburn, and like many people was frustrated with her job and co-workers, according to WSYR. Instead of keeping quiet about her unhappiness though, Mary expressed it on the social networking website Facebook.
That decision would ultimately cause her unemployment.
A few days after leaving the derogatory comments, which expressed her company and co-workers in a negative light, Mary's boss sent a memo to employees warning about the company's policy of not listing the company's name or disrespecting co-workers on Facebook.
Mary signed the memo, thinking she had not made a mistake because she did not use anyone's names or the company's name, and it is not listed anywhere on her Facebook where she works.
However, Mary was fired the next day with her Facebook comments listed verbatim in her termination letter. Although she admits the comments were harsh, she also believes she was wrongfully fired. Mary is mostly worried about how this will affect her job search in the future.
