Without the $1 million contributed by the Stardust Foundation, officials at Auburn Memorial Hospital believe their planned maternity ward renovations would not have moved forward. But the money comes with strings attached.
Stardust's mission is to aid community building projects, but also to help those organizations help themselves. The hospital must raise $250,000 itself, without asking for money from Auburn's five largest philanthropic organizations. Staff doctors must then match that sum with their own contributions, according to The Post-Standard.
The new facility will reach 6,600 square feet. All new birthing and post-partum rooms will be equipped with flat-screen televisions.
