Actor John Malkovich to Spend Summer in Syracuse

Plus, Cisco Unveils New Internet Technology and Martha Graham Dance Company Comes to Syracuse University.

Two-time Oscar nominee John Malkovich is scheduled to spend his summer in Syracuse filming a movie called "Hotel Syracuse", according to Syracuse University. The film tells the story of a famous math professor who stays in Hotel Syracuse during an international math conference. During his stay, he comes face to face with the ghosts that haunt the hotel property.

Syracuse International Film Festival's artistic director Owen Shapiro co-wrote the play with Israeli screenwriter and director Haim Bouzaglo. Shapiro is also a film professor at Syracuse University.

Filming is scheduled to last six to eight weeks and take place at the 500 South Warren St. hotel. Extras will be recruited from the Syracuse community.

Cisco Unveils Speedy Internet Technology

Cisco has unveiled a new internet technology aimed at faster data speeds. The company says it developed the $1.6 billion device to account for the rapid growth of online video demands. It's called the "CRS-3" and is a network routing system that can stream every movie in today's world in less than four minutes, according to Cisco.

Cisco said it will begin selling the network routing systems this fall at a price of $90,000.


Martha Graham Dance Company to perform tonight

As part of Women's History Month, the Martha Graham Dance Company is performing at Syracuse University on March 9 at 8 p.m. Dancer and choreographer Martha Graham founded the company in 1926. It is one of the oldest contemporary dance companies in the United States.

Pulse Performing Arts is hosting the show. Tickets cost $5 for Syracuse University students and $16 for the public. They can be purchased at the Schine Box Office at SU's student center. 

In addition to performing tonight, the company is also holding a private master class for SU's visual and performing arts students. Tomorrow, the company's artistic director Janet Eilber is speaking for SU's annual Women of Distinction Awards.
