Although there were times when the wind almost blew her off her bike and the sun seemed unbearable, Kristen White, completed the Ironman World Championship course in Hawaii on Saturday morning according to a The Post-Standard report.
White began running during college to stay in shape and avoid losing weight, however, she soon became so enthralled in her exercise routine that she began participating in marathons and triathlons, which led her to this ultimate test many years later.
The course required White to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles. She finished in 10 hours, 1 minute and 59 seconds. She was the fifth female in her age group to finish and 36th female to cross the finish line. Although the race was an extraordinary test, she claims that quitting never crossed her mind.
“There was no way I wasn’t going to cross that finish line,” she said. “Especially with my two girls waiting for me. That was all the motivation I needed.”
